Hey, world! Andrea, here. I won’t bore you with too many details but here’s just a little about me: I’m an elementary music teacher, lover of music and all things artsy, vegetarian-turned-vegan, life-long learner, and a triathlete. No kids unless you count my 3 fur babies. While music has always been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, sports were not. The most athletic thing that I participated in as a kid/teen/young adult was marching band and drum corps. I spent every moment perfecting my musical talents; it’s what I loved and lived for. After I graduated from college in 2004, I got my first teaching job, and got married. Fast forward a few years and all of a sudden, life caught up with me and so did my terrible eating habits and lack of exercise. I no longer recognized the person staring back at me in the mirror. I had lost interest in so many things I once loved because I was losing a love for myself. I knew something had to change. I just didn’t know exactly what that something was or how to change it. In late 2008, I got my first road bike and started cycling. My sister also managed to talk me into running, which eventually led me to my first race….a duathlon (run, bike, run). I loved cycling. I was learning to love running. However, it wasn’t until 2012 that I found my true passion for sport and exercise. Triathlon. Triathlon has opened up a whole new world for me, and while I’m not fast (yet…and maybe never), I love the self-confidence and better health that I’ve found through this sport!
