It’s hard to believe that I’m down to only 75 days before I take on Ironman Louisville. Having missed the first two months of my training because life got in the way, the past two months have been spent trying to make up for lost time. Well, sort of. I’ve been working hard but careful not to do too much too fast, in hopes to avoid injury. I just hope that I’m doing enough. And, with only 75 days to go, there’s not a lot of room for error.
So, what has training looked like over the past two months? Well, obviously there’s been quite a lot of swimming, biking, and running. Probably not enough swimming as there should be, but I hope to change that this week.
Starting out, I spent a lot of time on the struggle bus. Luckily, I expected that, so I rode that thing like a champ. A positive attitude is everything!
And then there have been moments like this. Moments where you just question everything in life. These moments are good for the soul and personal growth, although at the time they may not seem like it.
Finally, there have been moments like this. Moments that make me feel good. Proud. Strong. Courageous. Moments that remind me that the tough chick I once knew is still there. I just have to keep working hard to bring her to the surface again.
Oh, and there have been animals, too. Some people stop to smell the roses. I stop and talk to the animals. It’s quite therapeutic on long training days.
All in all, I feel like I’m heading in the right direction, and quite honestly, I’m just happy that I get to swim, bike, and run! There’s certainly more work to be done and I’m up for the challenge.
75 days until IMLOU. Tick-tock, tick-tock…
